Lizbeth Hasse devotes her practice to the fields of intellectual property (IP), media, entertainment, technology and business operations for businesses and individual clients. She provides legal services to businesses and non-profits in international and US transactions, as well as litigation advocacy and litigation avoidance counsel in state and federal matters.

Ms. Hasse has assisted in establishing joint ventures on four continents in the telecommunications, entertainment, retail, technology and health industries. She has a reputation as a highly effective negotiator and facilitator. She is also an accomplished arbitrator and mediator in her areas of expertise and is a fellow with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Ms. Hasse is strategic in helping clients to prioritize their needs, fit priorities within budgets, and protect their interests and achieve their goals over the short and long term. Ms. Hasse has tried cases successfully to verdict. She also works assiduously for effective settlements. She regularly co-counsels on larger litigated matters and provides IP expertise in trials and negotiations. She is adept at creating options for productive and forward-looking resolutions where appropriate.

Ms. Hasse has taught law as visiting faculty or adjunct professor at the University of California, Berkeley, University of Paris V, American University of Armenia (Yerevan), and the University of Denpasar, Indonesia, and has served as a mentor to law students and beginning lawyers in the US and worldwide.

Ms. Hasse’s IP work involves the full spectrum of licensing. She has deep experience in copyright, trade secret, trademark protection and prosecution, contractual and entity structuring, project design, and company development matters. She represents technology developers, publishers, motion picture producers and directors, broadcasters, authors and journalists, telecommunications companies, colleges and universities, ISPs, musicians, performers, computer software and e-commerce companies, merchandisers, designers, app developers, advertisers and manufacturers with respect to business operations and dispute resolution generally, as well as in a full range of IP, publicity, competition, privacy, development, investment, and governance matters.

Additionally, Ms. Hasse brings true insights that come from multiple experiences advising on legislative developments in IP, media law, and constitutional areas in a number of Central European, Asian, and African “countries in transition,” providing legal support to professional organizations, entrepreneurs, foundations, governmental entities, and innovative companies and universities.

Ms. Hasse is active in the community, dedicating her time to organizations that are devoted to social and human interests, including education and medical care to underserved populations, support of the arts, and sustainable business and education ventures. She has also engaged in documentary film production and in professional and creative writing for publications and performance.

Prior to founding Creative Industry Law, Ms. Hasse practiced law with the Heller Ehrman, Steinhart and Falconer, and Coudert Brothers law firms.
